How to get return value from worker thread?

MSDN: 'When the function(thread procedure) terminates,it should return a UINT value indicating the reason for termination. Typically,this exit code is 0 to indicate success with other values indicating different types of errors.
My question is, how to get return value from worker thread as we start a worker thread with AfxBeginThread(...)?

提问这个问题时，在繁体环境下，怕乱码，所以用英文写。
我再解释一下我真正想问的问题：
MSDN 讲可以用Thread Procedure的UINT型返回值得到线程的执行结果。
但事实上，用AfxBeginThread()启动线程后，不向函数那样可以得到这个Thread Procedure的返回值呵！
我们知道，可以在线程中通过发送给主线程消息或者改变全局变量的值，
来通知主线程该线程的执行结果。
所以，我想这个UINT型的返回值是否是个"鸡肋"?或者是个"摆设"?
