It's been a while since we talked last time. I've tried your site, it's
always slow and seems down lately.

Regarding your intention to develop something on Groove platform, I have
some other thought. This all started when one friend (in China) wants to do
some software business and like to pour some capital. I happen to be in the
middle of design a collaboration web tool (most a web site) for another
friend here in US for private club and community sort.

I can see such a tool that let people get together being able to chat and
post message will enjoy a stronge demand as long as the tool does what
people want.

Groove, however, is more like a corporate software as its business model
targets corporate users. I agree that's where the big money is, though I
don't buy in its revenue model from software license. The day of making
money from software license has started its way of leaving us. Consumer
become more and more prefer free software while it's easier to use and
accept a software product.

Another thought I have is that, after watching the message board/forum web
site took off everywhere, it clearly a sign of how stronge people seeking
chance to meet and chat via Internet. However, although forum provide a
space to archive message, it doesn't provide real time capability. On the
other side, chat server technology let people chat at real time, but there
is minimum categorization and way to view past messages easily.

Ideally, a tool could combine the feature of these two technologies, and
provide an integrated place, which seems take me to Groove (correct me if I
am wrong as I am still new to Groove), plus capability to voice/vedeo
conferencing on demand. Such a tool can take over the forum and chat server
user base with a swipe.

While there surely is many corporate buiness interests to a tool like this
as Groove proved, I'd like to provide it as a free software to public and
build on top of public domain P2P network such as Gnutella (prevail in USA)
though it currently mostly used for file sharing.

Once the user base established, further business feature can be introduced
into this product, one then, some profitable revenue model will be created.
For example, each message display can embedded advertise, some private
community can charge user with a fee and we as service provide can share
with a percentage, etc. The opportunity is unlimit once such a product and
its p2p network become popular.

I expect people will swarm to adopt this tool and dump the old message forum
and chat server type of technologies, both in USA and China (other part of
the world too, of course).

Let me what you think? Is there any interest that we can partner on this,
or if this is not practical and too risking from a business stand point.
