Q:---->
When I boot, I get an error that says the file C:\windows\system32\config\system is missing or corrupt.
I just installed XP and it worked fine for 3 boots then it gave me this. I didn't even change any settings. Anybody know how to fix this or what caused it. Thanks

This will get your system working, after use system restore to get your system back to how you had it.
Boot into the recovery console from the CD, then choose your installation (usually C:\windows), you should end up at the prompt C:\ then type the following exactly as written, type,
cd system32\config (press enter)
ren system system.old (press enter)
ren system.alt systemalt.old (press enter)
copy c:\windows\repair\system (press enter)
copy c:\windows\repair\regback\system
(press enter)
exit (press enter then press it again to restart your computer)
When it restarts it will now boot up use system restore to return your recent files back if needed.
ALL DONE!!!!!!!!!!

I isolated my problem at memory speed. In my bios I had it set to "fast". Simply moving it to normal speed cured it and I've been stable for days now.
Im still waiting for the crash to happen but in the meantime I have what is in my opinion a very nice smooth (stable?) operating system.
