V. BIOS Fault Tolerance
If the Primary BIOS in your system fails check sum or the updating of ESCD
fails, the Backup (secondary) BIOS will automatically take over, thus allowing
your system to run as smoothly as usual.
NOTE:
In the figure “BIOS FEATURE SETUP” , there are two options for the DualBIOS
function:
“ESCD Updating Failure Check: Disabled/Enabled”
“Recover Primary ROM: Manual/Auto”
If you set “ESCD Updating Failure Check” to “Enabled” , and you shut down or
reset the system BEFORE the system has had time to update the ESCD, the
message “Primary Flash ROM is not ready” will appear during your next boot
up. Actually, your Primary BIOS ROM is OK. ESCD simply hasn’ t been
updated. Please shut down your system, then next time you boot up, the
system will again use the primary BIOS.
If you set “Recover Primary ROM” to “Manual”, and your primary BIOS ROM
is bad or the ESCD update fails, the message “ Press F1 to enter DualBIOS
Utility” will appear during your next boot up. Hitting F1 will allow you to enter
the DualBIOS Flash Utility. If you set “Recover Primary ROM” to “Auto” , the
message “ Press F1 to enter DualBIOS Utility” will not appear on boot up, you
will simply and automatically enter the DualBIOS Flash Utility.
