linux8.0下的mysql错误信息！请大虾们相助！在线等待中........

我在red hat linux8.0下安装了mysql－3.23.41－1.i386.rpm,
我启动它时提示Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock'

我看了一下，在/var/lib/mysql/下面没有东西，我以前安装在linux7.2时没有出现过这种情况！请问怎么回事？？？

应该是没有安装全
mysql-3.23.14-1-server.i386.rpm
mysql-3.23.14-1-client.i386.rpm
(包名不一定是这样的)
把以前的卸载了
rpm -e mysql-3.23.52-3

下面的那两个文件包我也安装了，我写了一个php测试文件，在里面都可以找到mysql的信息，可是还是我无法使用它！

很明显你没有初始化数据库！

1,First,You must confirm that the MySql server has been started!
If no,you can run '/etc/init.d/mysqld start' to start it!

2.Can you use '/usr/sbin/mysqladmin -u root -h localhost' command to connect database?

3.Check you firewall rule.

4.If you can't resolv this problem through above method,you can try to reinstall it with '--replace-files' parameter!

编辑 /etc/hosts
将你的客户端的主机名及IP地址加进去，好用的^_^!
