Question: How do I install Microsoft Proxy Server version 2.0 client software?
Answer: This document contains highly technical information and will require advanced operating system knowledge. If you need further assistance with this process, please contact the QuicksBooks Support Network. In order to access the Internet on a Local Area Network (LAN) behind a Proxy Server, computers are required to have the Microsoft Proxy client software installed. The Microsoft Proxy client must be installed on the client (local or workstation) computer. No modifications are required on the server.
To determine if the Microsoft Proxy Client is already installed on the client computer, check for the WSP Client icon in the Control Panel. If the client is already installed, it is not necessary to reinstall it.
You can set up a client computer by using either the Setup program or a Web browser.
To set up a client computer by using Setup
Double-click the Network Neighborhood icon on your Desktop.
Scroll until you find the server computer and double-click it. This is available unless your Network Administrator has disabled it.
Double-click the Mspclnt folder, double-click Setup.exe, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
To set up a client computer by using a Web browser
From a Web browser on the client computer, connect to the installation page on the server by typing http://servername/Msproxy (servername is the name of the server computer) in the address field. After the client installation Web page is loaded, click the WinSock Proxy 2.0 client link, and follow the on-screen instructions to run Setup and install the client components.
