M$是不是正在做这件事？
按照M$公开的资料，是否有可能开发出.net Framework for linux？

本来就没什么微软特有的东西，全都是开放的标准嘛
XML、SOAP有了，就有WebService
除了这个，微软的.net还有什么特别之处吗？

.net采用开放标准，可以让市场上的各种客户端设备（即使不是微软的）都能接入微软的myServices，用户认证要由M$经手办理，服务器端即使不是一定要用微软产品，也会让你觉得宁愿选择微软产品，用.net开发程序，意味着租用了微软提供的用户资源和网络交互平台，要付钱给它。商业思路的确是不错，可这个平台究竟有多可靠？
自由软件的Linux，不应该考虑去实现一个.net Framework，而应当汲取.net的灵感，开发一个自由的WebServices分布计算平台。

You may be interested in 'DotGNU', a project lauched not long ago,

It is a total substitution for .net by GNU.

The platform includes:

DotGNU Portable.NET
Support for Java bytecode
DotGNU Secure Execution Environment
DotGNU Distributed Execution Environment

And the project contains a authorization mechanism branch named 'DotGNU Virtual Identities', subsituting Passport.

DotGNU will be a complete replacement for the .NET strategy - it will not be a Free Software implementation of .NET. At the core of Microsoft's .NET is Hailstorm (recently renamed ".NET My Services"), which is in fact Microsoft's attempt to gain control of the internet and its users. In contrast, the goal of DotGNU is to give computer users full freedom to use the internet as they want. For example, the DotGNU approach to "web services" will make it possible for end users to run webservice software on their own PC, so that the users are not forced to migrate their data to the webservice servers.
也就是说，Dot GNU不是实现一个.net Framework的自由版，而是完全不依赖Hailstorm。
如果你用.net开发Web Service，要给微软付使用费。而Dot GNU的目标是你在自己的PC上就可以任意开发服务，让Internet保持开放，自由的精神。
