如何对图片大小进行限制？

为什么我用CSS

max-width: 300px;
max-Height: 500px;
width:expression(this.width > 254 ? "300px" : this.width);
Hight:expression(this.Hight > 500 ? "500px" : this.Height);
overflow:hidden;
}

这样控制控制不了图片的大小呢？

还有其他办法对图片进行大小控制的吗？
