Are you just declaring a global or otherwise automatic array of chars? Have you tried using Malloc( ) to grab a chunk of memory off the heap? CONTROLLER_HEAPSIZE is definitely used, and will determine the amount of heap that you have available to you. Malloc( ) will grab you memory from that heap.
