linux中locate查找命令疑惑

我在ubuntu14.04版本中使用locate命令查找文件时遇到了一些问题，非常费解，希望各位不吝赐教：

mountzf@mountzf:~$ locate practice
mountzf@mountzf:~$

我在使用locate命令查找文件时，无法查找我的用户主目录下的文件，如上"locate practice"，并没有输出，而查找主目录之外的文件就可以。我已经在超级用户下使用updatedb更新过数据库，并且在root账户下也无法查询此目录下的内容。各位，这是什么问题？
