While working in the Translation Manager, you can use the Repository to store and retrieve translated strings. You can also access the Repository directly, through its own interface, to import and export data, find and edit strings, or delete unwanted translations.
To open the Repository, choose Tools|Translation Repository or click the Translation Repository icon in the upper left corner of Translation Manager.
The Repository stores data, in binary format, in a file with the .rps extension. By default, it uses Default.rps in the BIN directory.
To save changes to the current rps file, click the Save button.
To save the current data in a different file, click the Save As button.
To open a different rps file, click the Open button.
To open a new, empty rps file, click the New button.
To search for a string in the current repository column, click the Find button.
To delete a record, select any row and press the Delete key.
To edit an item, click in the string you want to edit to position the cursor. You can also enable editing by selecting an item and pressing F2.
Several Repository settings are controlled from the Translation Tools Options dialog. To change these settings, choose Tools|Translation Tools Options from the main Delphi menu (or press the Options button in the Translation Manager), then select the Preferences tab.
To select a different .rps file, enter a file name under Repository.
To make the Resource DLL wizard automatically retrieve strings from the Repository, select Automatic Repository Query.
To determine how the Repository responds when it finds more than one translation for the same source string, select an option under Multiple Find Action.
Importing and exporting data
The Repository's Import and Export functions allow you to exchange data between rps files. This is useful for sharing translations in workgroups and development teams. Importing and exporting are accomplished through intermediate text files in XML format.
To Export the contents of the current repository to an xml file, click the Export button. When the file-selection dialog opens, specify a file name and click Save.
To export selected items-ather than the whole repository-rag the mouse over the rows you want to export. Make sure to select both columns of each row. Then click the Export button.
To import the contents of an XML file into the current repository, click the Import button. When the file-selection dialog opens, choose a file and click Open.
Note The Import and Export functions require MSXML.DLL. If you don't have this file on your system, you can get it by installing Microsoft Internet Explorer 5
