怎样将grub安装到u盘上？

我的u盘只有一个分区，格式化成ext3，我用grub-insatall /dev/sda1,报错：
/dev/sda1 does not have any corresponding BIOS driver.
而且之后连Linux也启动不了,那光盘修复才搞定.

那是一个错误。
在学校做毕业设计，U盘Linux的GRUB怎么也装不上，即使装上也不能用。十分郁闷。同学把U盘借去用，试验无法继续。直到晚上才给我。由于心急，还没来得及进行数据备份、格式化成ext2格式就直接试验了(U盘差不多是公用的)。结果见鬼，行了。现在我毕业工作了，至今不知为何。(ext2格式不行，但是fat可以)

首先，主板的bios要支持从u盘启动才行吧

Usage: grub-install [OPTION] install_device

--root-directory=DIR install GRUB images under the directory DIR
instead of the root directory

如果mount 到/mnt/sda1

grub-install --root-directory=/mnt/sda1 /dev/sda1

我也是啊，tmd

先是自己搞，结果无论如何也不能将lilo
写上去。

用grub到是可以写上去，就是没有任何效果。

接着试了cdlinux和puppy linux

结果启动时tmd
显示
grub geom error

不知道为什么，今天累了，明天再说吧。

唉，做点破事，有这么难。

楼上老大说要用fat格式不知道为什么，
麻烦说说。
