u are still young in your career. You need a mentor. My advise is: don't complain, keep your mouth shut, learn whatever you can learn and then find a new job with a higher pay if you really have concern on the project management in your current firm.
Don't try to change anything there through your own effort. A company with 500+ employee could have a lot of bureaucracy...

Thx,your advice is pertinent.I plan to give me a chance when I have two years development experience.
You should have my respect for not using pirate software!
Ur employer doesn't supply office suite software? Or are you a student?
Is there a situation for developers where they would rather use licensed office software rather than free edition? In my opinion free edition is enough.
not everyone is geek. I am not. The Spirit of Freedom, IMO, also means that people have right to choose the software they like no matter it's free or not.
I work is on Linux but I have a Windows 8 desktop and Windows 7 laptop with MS Office and other tools that only run against Windows system. I don't feel shame about it. I only pick the tools that are friendly to me and efficient to my work. I am not picking a tool because it has a GNU logo...
For office software (standalone), no one can beat MS. Even developers don't use Word very frequently, they still need outlook for email and powerpoint for presentation. I understand you would say there are free alternatives out there and it's easy to learn. But, again, I don't want to spend time to learn a new email client and a new PPT software...
There is no Doctrine, just practice...

不是很懂,个人在windows上也是用的LibreOffice
正版MSoffice太贵,又不愿用盗版
I also hope you are not only consuming the open source software. Please contribute/get involved into the community, such as submit bug or donate to document foundation. Overall, no one works for free...
Can you paste your a personal blog link if you have one?
U mean my blog or libreoffice's blog?
I don't really have a blog. There is only one article on my blog hereand it's written in Chinese and has nothing to do with Linux or open source...
feel free to "私信" me if you like to further discuss this matter...
